<p>There are so many mistakes we can make in our  desire to achieve some goals and dieting is not an exception. When it  comes to dieting, selecting a dieting plan where you eat the same menu  or meal everyday is a mistake. We are humans and we love varieties,  despite our love for routine and structure we quite enjoy changing our  lunch routine sometimes.</p>
<p>Hence, selecting a diet or new nutrition  plan that allows you to enjoy a wide variety of foods rather than one  put a limitation on you.</p>
<p>Another mistake in dieting towards weight  loss includes depriving yourself of everything that you enjoy.  Moderation is one important that we often forget.</p>
<p>There is nothing  wrong or sinful about enjoying food, the problem lies when you only  enjoy the wrong sorts of foods all the time. Seriously, do not forget to  enjoy food for the sake of dieting.</p>
<p>Learning about mistake is one  thing but making a conscious decision not to make them again is what  really matters and if you haven&#8217;t made these mistakes, you don&#8217;t have to  make them, that is the whole essence of learning about the failures of  others, we are to guide our lives with the end result in mind, and in  our pursuit towards weight loss through dieting, mistakes are inevitable  but they can be avoided, your goal might be to lose 10 pounds or 210  pounds, the only way that can be achieved is by being a healthy person.</p>

<p>Losing weight using dieting as the approach can be both helpful and  also very easy to do but dieting as a solution to weight loss can  create many mistakes that are made daily by dieter. There are mistakes  that are very popular but there are a few that we are not so familiar  with, I am hoping that as we identify these mistakes we can learn to  avoid them and really get the best from our weight loss pursuits.</p>
<p>An all out attack attitude:<br />
There are some of us that want to lose weight through embarking on a  dietary regimen that is nearly impossible to maintain and believe that  all is lost the moment they make a mistake or stray from the strict  guidelines, the all out attack is when you as a dieter scour the pantry  and the refrigerator removing anything that could be seen as a potential  source of temptation, this approach is too strict.</p>
<p>This approach  might work for some in the beginning but it is set up for frustration,  failure and will end the dieting process. Our goal is to shed pounds,  there are many ways this can be done that would not require hunger  strike or punishing ourselves while trying to achieve this goal, the  important thing to remember is the goal.</p>
<p>Learning about this  mistake and making a conscious decision not to be a prey is the whole  essence of this article, we are expected to move on from it. Let your  failure teach you as much as your success. Learn to enjoy food in  moderation and you should be well on your way to the success you seek,  which is weight loss through dieting.</p>
<p>Losing weight is one aspect  of our lives that we will continue to talk about, we eat and we are  meant to enjoy our foods but we are also very conscious of our body and  carefully decide not to eat some foods, making that decision can be both  helpful or harmful depending on your perspective.</p>

<p>1. When dining out start your meal with a soup or a huge salad this  will fill you up so be to certain you won&#8217;t reach for the garlic bread. (  always try to order starters as soon as you arrive )</p>
<p>2. Make sure  your plate has this ratio &#8211; 50 per cent vegetables, 25 per cent  carbohydrate, and remember potatoes, corn and peas come in carbohydrate  category, 25 per cent protein this will prevent cravings. Choose lighter  sauce options and if dining at Asian restaurants stay away from curries  and fried options choose stir-fry&#8217;s and limit rice portions.</p>
<p>3.  Have a snack every three hours; this will keep the hunger at bay and  boost your metabolism only snack on whole grain crackers, fruits  preferably berries as they are high in antioxidants and protein based  foods, just having 2 tbsp of soy nuts will help subside hunger pangs.  Make sure you have small meals throughout the day especially if you know  you are heading out to dinner we don&#8217;t want to arrive hungry this will  cause us to overeat.</p>
<p>4. Make sure to look over the menu at length  and decide from the start if you are having dessert and choose the rest  of the menu around your choices. Try to share a dessert where possible  and always ask for 2 forks, this will make the decision for you and you  can easily tell your friends you are full and have someone else finish  it off for you.</p>
<p>5. Cut down on the amount of alcohol you consume,  switch to low cal wines there are many on the market today Lindeman&#8217;s  early harvest has reduced alcohol and calories. Or if you are a spirit  drinker try mixing with soda and for every alcoholic drink you consume  be sure to drink a large glass of water (try to limit drinking to very  occasionally)</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>With growing number of fat people around and an ever increasing number of  lose weight program, this morning a special report came out about obesity and its effect on child-bearing&#8230;</p>
<p>As Americans have grown fatter over the last generation, inviting more heart disease, diabetes and premature deaths, all that extra weight has also become a burden in the maternity ward, where babies take their first breath of life.</p>
<p>About one in five women are obese when they become pregnant, meaning they have a body mass index of at least 30, as would a 5-foot-5 woman weighing 180 pounds, according to researchers with the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. And medical evidence suggests that obesity might be contributing to record-high rates of Caesarean sections and leading to more birth defects and deaths for mothers and babies.</p>
<p>Hospitals, especially in poor neighborhoods, have been forced to adjust. They are buying longer surgical instruments, more sophisticated fetal testing machines and bigger beds. They are holding sensitivity training for staff members and counseling women about losing weight, or even having bariatric surgery, before they become pregnant.</p>
<p>At Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, where 38 percent of women giving birth are obese, Patricia Garcia had to be admitted after she had a stroke, part of a constellation of illnesses related to her weight, including diabetes and weak kidneys.</p>
<p>At seven months pregnant, she should have been feeling the thump of tiny feet against her belly. But as she lay flat in her hospital bed, doctors buzzing about, trying to stretch out her pregnancy day by precious day, Ms. Garcia, who had recently weighed in at 261 pounds, said she was too numb from water retention to feel anything.</p>
<p>On May 5, 11 weeks shy of her due date, a sonogram showed that the baby’s growth was lagging, and an emergency Caesarean was ordered.</p>
<p>She was given general anesthesia because her bulk made it hard to feel her spine to place a local anesthetic. Dr. Betsy Lantner, the obstetrician on call, stood on a stool so she could reach over Ms. Garcia’s belly. A flap of fat covered her bikini line, so the doctor had to make a higher incision. In an operation where every minute counted, it took four or five minutes, rather than the usual one or two, to pull out a 1-pound 11-ounce baby boy.</p>
<p>Studies have shown that babies born to obese women are nearly three times as likely to die within the first month of birth than women of normal weight, and that obese women are almost twice as likely to have a stillbirth.</p>
<p>About two out of three maternal deaths in New York State from 2003 to 2005 were associated with maternal obesity, according to the state-sponsored Safe Motherhood Initiative, which is analyzing more recent data.</p>
<p>Obese women are also more likely to have high blood pressure, diabetes, anesthesia complications, hemorrhage, blood clots and strokes during pregnancy and childbirth, data shows.</p>
<p>The problem has become so acute that five New York City hospitals — Beth Israel Medical Center and Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan, Maimonides in Brooklyn and Montefiore Medical Center and Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center in the Bronx — have formed a consortium to figure out how to handle it. They are supported by their malpractice insurer and the United Hospital Fund, a research group.</p>
<p>One possibility is to create specialized centers for obese women. The centers would counsel them on nutrition and weight loss, and would be staffed to provide emergency Caesarean sections and intensive care for newborns, said Dr. Adam P. Buckley, an obstetrician and patient safety expert at Beth Israel Hospital North who is leading the group.</p>
<p>Very obese women, or those with a B.M.I. of 35 or higher, are three to four times as likely to deliver their first baby by Caesarean section as first-time mothers of normal weight, according to a study by the Consortium on Safe Labor of the National Institutes of Health.</p>
<p>While doctors are often on the defensive about whether Caesarean sections, which carry all the risks of surgery, are justified, Dr. Howard L. Minkoff, the chairman of obstetrics at Maimonides, said doctors must weigh those concerns against the potential complications from vaginal delivery in obese women. Typically, these include failing to progress in labor; diabetes in the mother, which can lead to birth complications; and difficulty monitoring fetal distress. “With obese women we are stuck between Scylla and Charybdis,” Dr. Minkoff said.</p>
<p>But even routine care, like finding a vein to take blood, can be harder through layers of fatty tissue.</p>
<p>And equipment can be a problem. Dr. Janice Henderson, an obstetrician for high-risk pregnancies at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, described a recent meeting where doctors worried that the delivery room table might collapse under the weight of an obese patient.</p>
<p>At Maimonides, the perinatal unit threw away its old examining tables and replaced them with wider, sturdier ones. It bought ultrasound machines that make lifelike three-dimensional images early in pregnancy, when the fetus is still low in the uterus and less obscured by fat, but also less developed and thus harder to diagnose clearly. “You really need to use the best equipment, which is more expensive,” said Dr. Shoshana Haberman, the director of perinatal services.</p>
<p>Many experienced obstetricians complain that as Americans have grown larger, the perception of what constitutes obesity has shifted, leading to some complacency among doctors. At UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Mass., Dr. Tiffany A. Moore Simas, the associate director of the residency program in obstetrics, demands that residents calculate B.M.I. as a routine part of prenatal treatment. “It’s one of my siren songs,” Dr. Moore Simas said, “because we are very bad at eyeballing people.”</p>
<p>Dr. Haberman said there was obesity in her own family, and she had seen how hurtful even professionals could be. “We as a society have issues with the perception of obesity; anatomically, you get turned off,” she said.</p>
<p>So she was sympathetic to Ms. Garcia, making sure she got a room with a window, and calling to check on her after hours.</p>
<p>Ms. Garcia, 38, a former school bus dispatcher, is 5 feet tall. She said she had tried diets, weight-watching groups and joining a gym. She was 195 pounds before her pregnancy (B.M.I., 38) and ballooned to 261 pounds, which she attributed to water weight and inactivity.</p>
<p>“I’m the smallest one in my family,” she said. Her older brother weighed more than 700 pounds before having gastric bypass surgery.</p>
<p>She wiped tears away as she confessed that she worried that she might die and leave her baby without a mother.</p>
<p>At Ms. Garcia’s stage of pregnancy, every day in the womb was good for the baby but bad for the mother, Dr. Minkoff said. “She’s making a heroic decision to put her own self in peril for the sake of the child,” he said.</p>
<p>She survived, but was dismayed by the size of her son, Josiah Patrick, who had to be put on a breathing machine. At first she could see him only by remote video. But after a month, Josiah was off the ventilator, taking 15 milliliters of formula and had smiled at his mother, and doctors said he was where he should be developmentally for a preemie his age.</p>
<p>The hospital estimated that the cost of caring for the mother and baby would be more than $200,000, compared with $13,000 for a normal delivery.</p>
<p>Ms. Garcia promised Dr. Minkoff that she would lose weight and see her baby graduate from college. “I’m going on a strict, strict, strict diet,” she said. “I’m not going through this again.”</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>How much money are you spending every month for weight loss programs, weight loss advice, or personal trainers? Most likely too much. This article will show some great ways to lose weight that won&#8217;t cost you anything.</p>

<p>1.<br />
Did you know that there are a ton of weight loss online communities that are free for you to use? I have included some links in the resource page to give you places to start. I am a member of one of them myself. To date in the last 6 weeks I have lost 12 pounds for free.<br />
2.<br />
Join one of these sites. Most of them count your calories for you, both your intake (food you eat) and your loss (calories you burn). They also provide you a wealth of knowledge through articles that are free for you to read. The final thing that these sites offer is support of others who have similar goals as you.<br />
3.<br />
If you live in an apartment that has a gym use this facility instead of paying a monthly membership fee to go to a gym. It seems a simple change but would surprise you how many people keep their gym membership when they have one available to them for free at their own apartment.</p>
<p>If you live in a house and don&#8217;t have gym equipment, start by walking or hiking. Walk to the store if it is only a couple blocks away. Walk whenever you have the opportunity over taking a car. If you have a bike, ride your bike. All of these are free and most of them are available without a purchase.<br />
4.<br />
Another free thing you can do is catch an exercise program on cable, if you work tape it and do this later in the evening. Looking through your cable guide will give you local channel and times.</p>
<p>5.<br />
This step may help you save money but it is not necessarily free. Cut your portions down. Over the years America, in particular, has increased their portion size through marketing. You can see this if you go out to restaurants. Most weight loss sites will have you measure your portions to insure you are not eating to much.<br />
6.<br />
Set small goals at first, five or ten pounds, achieve this and set the next goal. Hold yourself to your goals and reward yourself when you reach a goal.</p>
<p>Losing weight is a lot easier than we think it is. If you reduce our calories to a healthy number and get the right amount of exercise you will find that it really is something you can do for free or very little cost.</p>
<p>However, if you find that you are not losing weight in a healthy way you should see a doctor, and as always before starting a new weight loss program you should consult your doctor to make sure you are doing this the healthy way.</p>
